ABOUT

Marshall has his M.F.A. in Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts with an emphasis in Directing from the University of New Orleans and a B.A. from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.  Marshall is the Associate Artistic Director at the Highlands Playhouse in Highlands, North Carolina.  The Highlands Playhouse is a historic theater currently preparing for its 81st season that showcases some of the greatest works in the theatre/musical theatre cannon.

 

Other companies Marshall has directed for include; Capital T Theatre, The Tennessee Williams Literary Festival, Six by Six (new works intuitive), and The Marigny Theatre.  Marshall was the National Winner of the SDC-Kennedy Center Directing Competition, 2008.  As a result of this award, Marshall was part of an intensive at the Kennedy Center that focused on the relationship between directors and designers.  The workshop invited directors and designers from around the country and was run by Tony Award Winning Designer, Ming Cho Lee. 

 

In addition to his professional work, Marshall prides himself as an educator, passing on his love of theatre to the next generation of artists.  Recent shows directed by Marshall as a collegiate faculty member include; Pippin, The Rocky Horror Show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Rumors, Gruesome Playground Injuries, Hedda Gabler, and Almost, Maine.  Some courses taught by Marshall include; Acting I, Acting II, Directing, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre Appreciation, Theatre: A Cultural Context, Introduction to Playwriting, and a variety of Humanities & Speech courses.
